Design paths for contemporary artistic glass at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice


The GLASSOUND project presents, in the context of The Venice Glass Week 2018, works resulting from the collaboration between master glassmakers of the Muranese furnaces and students of the Decoration course of the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. The company promoter of the initiative, together with the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, is Signoretto Lampadari Murano.

The guiding theme, developed by the young artists through seminars and workshops in the centers of production, is the relation between glass and sound. The voice of the furnace in its infinite vibrations, produced in the course of its activities or by the material in its countless images, taken thanks to the collaboration between designers and masters, becomes the ground in which developing new forms and ideas for research, in this immense universe which is the Venetian artistic glass.

Particularly, GLASSOUND was born as a development of some design areas that emerged during the workshop "Ma a che serve la luce?" (2016-2017) and concluded with the exhibition "ARA - Design paths for contemporary artistic glass at the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice, set up at Palazzo Da Mula in Murano.
