curated by Gaetano Mainenti, in collaboration with Signoretto Lampadari - Murano, Palazzo da Mula, Murano - Venice

Design paths for contemporary artistic glass at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice

Ara, in the context of Murano glass, was the term that indicated the third chamber of the furnace, the highest one, where the worked glass is placed for the gradual cooling process (annealing) or pending further finishing processes.
The project intends to present a selection of research and productions carried out in the Decoration Atelier of the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice in the field of contemporary artistic glass production.

The exhibition was born from the collaboration with the Signoretto Lampadari company, in Murano, within the workshop "Ma a che serve la luce?", a research path conceived and developed by Atelier Decorazione B of the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice, aimed at favoring the continuation and enhancement, through its updating, of the forms, techniques and methods typical of Murano glassmaking.
These paths take on a trans-disciplinary character, which hybridize various skills, methods and techniques around the glass material that becomes an ideal fulcrum also for its profound relationship with the Venetian territory.
